Personalization has been a human endeavor for so long. The web evolved from the same webpage for everyone to recommendations based on your activity. AI is going through the same phase: from the same response for everyone, to memory and retrieval, to deep personal understanding.

This dream started with newspapers, when different regions began seeing different publications. With radio and TV, it became more accessible. With the internet, the pattern repeated: one page for everyone, then region-specific websites, then pages translated and adapted by location.

With mobile, personalization became more aware. The device was always with us. Products like Uber and Instagram made software feel tuned to context, behavior, and timing.

With AI, we are redoing this again. AI started as a chatbot with the same answer for everyone. Then came memory and RAG, where systems could retrieve what was relevant to a user or a task.

The next change is deeper: AI that understands the shape of a person's life. It will be personal, proactive, and private, tuned to the user while respecting the boundaries they set.
